50km/h Winds and Heavy Rain Hit Eastern UAE in NCM Alert
Heavy rainfall and convective cloud formations swept across eastern and southern parts of the UAE on Wednesday, prompting the National Centre of Meteorology to issue a weather alert for winds reaching up to 50km/h. Local motorists and residents across the affected emirates faced reduced visibility from dust and sudden downpours as unstable atmospheric conditions persisted.
Temperatures Drop Below 20 Degrees Amid Cumulonimbus Activity
Cumulonimbus clouds developed over regional pockets, bringing brief, intense showers and cooler temperatures to locations including Fujairah, Musaffah, Mazyad, and Hatta. Footage captured by tracking groups showed wet roads and overcast skies across Fujairah. Morning conditions turned cooler as the NCM recorded a low of 19.3°C in Raknah, Al Ain, at 6am on Wednesday. The transition into cooler seasonal months triggered the atmospheric shifts, bringing a temporary easing of daytime heat.
The NCM alert remained in effect until 10pm on Wednesday, October 21. Authorities advised motorists to exercise caution during the stormy conditions, reduce speed, maintain safe vehicle distances, and refrain from mobile phone use while navigating wet roads. Residents were explicitly urged to avoid wadis and low-lying areas where water collection creates hazards during heavy showers. The public was directed to rely exclusively on official updates issued by the NCM.
