Russian President Vladimir Putin met with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow on Saturday for high-level discussions aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. The diplomatic engagement brings American mediators to the Kremlin as both sides open direct communication channels regarding the ongoing conflict.

Putin told the US representatives that contacts between Moscow and Washington were consistently beneficial, adding that Russia found it convenient to work with them. Witkoff conveyed best wishes from US President Donald Trump and expressed gratitude for a ceasefire enacted during the visit. Putin stated that Moscow would do its utmost to ensure the safety of the mediators. The Kremlin separately ordered a three-day halt in strikes on Kyiv to accommodate the diplomatic delegation.
In regional developments reported alongside the summit, the UAE President pardoned Abdul Rahman Yusuf Al Qaradawi following a criminal conviction. Meanwhile, Sharjah Police issued warnings against distracted driving and released an accident video, and select UAE schools shifted their October break forward by one week amid heavy traffic as classes resumed.
