Rain Heads to UAE: What to Expect
The UAE is bracing for rain early next week, with convective clouds expected to bring showers to eastern and southern areas on Monday and Tuesday. According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), the unstable weather is driven by a surface low-pressure system extending from the east, combined with an upper-level trough affecting the country.
The NCM forecasts partly cloudy skies with a chance of convective cloud formation over eastern and southern areas, leading to potential rainfall during the afternoon on both days. Winds are expected to shift from south-easterly to north-westerly, remaining light to moderate but becoming fresh at times, with speeds of up to 30km/h. Seas are expected to remain slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
On Saturday, the weather is forecast to be fair to partly cloudy, with clouds building over eastern and southern regions later in the day. Sunday will see similar conditions, with partly cloudy skies and increasing cloud cover over the eastern mountains during the afternoon. Winds are forecast to freshen intermittently, reaching up to 35km/h.
The NCM expects temperatures to range between 43°C and 48°C in inland areas, 42°C to 37°C along the coast and islands, and 31°C to 37°C over the mountains. The high temperatures, combined with the chance of rain and dusty winds, may lead to blowing dust and sand in exposed areas.
Residents can expect a drop in temperatures on Monday, with a chance of afternoon rainfall over eastern areas as convective clouds develop. The NCM advises residents to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the unstable weather conditions.
