UAE Secures 9th Globally in Economic Freedom in New Prosperity Index
📣 ARTICLE HEADLINE
Across the UAE, national metrics show how daily quality of life aligns with economic momentum. In the Legatum Prosperity Index 2026, the country built on its development model, combining infrastructure projects, essential public services, and targeted investment in human capital to back its economic openness.
Top Regional Ranks for Business Ease and Daily Living
The nation secured ninth place globally for economic freedom, scoring 77.33 points to take the top spot in the Arab world ahead of Oman and Qatar. That score reflects regulatory flexibility, streamlined private sector activity, and accessible trade networks that support the movement of capital, goods, and services across local markets.
For residents and entrepreneurs, that foundation translates into standards for community infrastructure and public services. The UAE ranked 11th globally for living standards and 13th for overall development, underscoring ongoing upgrades to essential service networks.
The sharpest gains showed up in classrooms and clinics. In education, the country reached 14th globally after jumping 41 places between 2015 and 2025 following deliberate investments in human capital. Meanwhile, health outcomes, measuring indicators like life expectancy and child mortality, pushed the nation up eight spots to 21st globally as medical infrastructure expanded.
Overall, the Legatum Prosperity Index 2026 frames these outcomes as part of an integrated model linking economic freedom directly with public health, classroom quality, and everyday living standards.
