Mobile Passport Checks Cut Dubai Airport Clearance to 15 Seconds
If you are passing through Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 or heading out from any terminal across Dubai’s airports today, your walk through passport control looks very different.
Passport control drops traditional counters for 12-second handheld checks
GDRFA Dubai officers are now equipped with mobile handheld devices to clear travelers directly where they stand, doing away with the requirement to queue at a fixed desk. Powered by biometrics, facial recognition, and electronic passport reading, the Click & Travel system completes entry and exit procedures in 12 to 15 seconds per passenger.
The mobile rollout follows a phased testing schedule across the emirate’s airport hubs. The first trial began in October 2025 at Terminal 3, initially focusing on family groups. By May 2026, the second phase expanded testing to all Dubai airport terminals and broader passenger categories, leading to today’s full official launch. Developed in cooperation with Dubai Airports and Emirates, the service shifts immigration staff from fixed desks to direct floor operations to keep passenger movement fluid.
GDRFA Dubai officers now handle immigration procedures entirely on mobile devices to reduce wait times across all airport terminals.
