Jewish Zionist Takes Knesset Seat for Arab Party After Split Election
Former police investigator Yoav Segalovitz will take his seat in the Knesset on November 10, 2026, representing the conservative Islamist Arab-led party Ra’am following Israel‘s parliamentary election. Political blocs across the country’s legislative spectrum face renewed coalition deadlocks as Arab-led parties secured a combined 19 seats, creating a critical voting pivot in the 120-member assembly.
Ra’am Secures Eight Knesset Seats as Coalition Deadlock Leaves Netanyahu Short of Majority
Eight of the 19 seats captured by Arab-led parties belong to Ra’am, positioning party leader Mansour Abbas to negotiate for potential inclusion in a governing coalition after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc claimed 53 seats and the main opposition secured 48, leaving both sides short of the 61-seat majority threshold.
Ra’am previously entered a national governing coalition in 2021, marking the first time an independent Arab party became part of an Israeli administration, which remained in power for approximately 18 months.
