What is the 95% smart travel target at Al Maktoum International Airport?
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai (GDRFA Dubai) projects that 95% of passenger procedures at Al Maktoum International Airport will be completed through smart technologies and systems. The airport is scheduled to open in 2032. The figure is a projection, not a current result.
Which technologies are already running at DXB?
The target builds on services already in use at Dubai International Airport (DXB):
- Red Carpet corridor: clears enrolled travellers in about four seconds or less, without stopping or showing documents, and can process up to 10 moving passengers at once. See how the AI corridor works.
- Smart Gates: automated barrier lanes for eligible travellers.
- Click and Travel: handheld biometric checks by officers in 12 to 15 seconds. See the launch and rollout.
- Children’s passports platform and other biometric services.
The three main fast lanes are compared in who can use each option.
What else is planned for the new airport?
Reports on the project describe eight smaller terminals linked by underground trains, with robots for curbside bag drop, concierge help and delivery of purchases. These are plans for a project still under construction, so details may change before opening. The GDRFA Director General has said the figures show Dubai’s air gateways moving toward smart solutions.
