Dh1.6B Infrastructure Push: Dubai Municipality Finishes 107 Local Projects
Residents walking down neighborhood paths and heading out to local coastlines are seeing tangible upgrades following a massive municipal push across the emirate.
Dubai Municipality completed more than 107 public infrastructure projects valued at Dh1.6 billion throughout 2026. The capital injection targeted everyday spaces that shape daily routines, focusing heavily on neighborhood parks, public beaches, community facilities, and citywide beautification drives.
Upgraded Beaches and Greener Neighborhoods
Local communities are feeling the direct physical results of how those funds were split. Dubai Municipality directed 36 percent of the total project investment straight into beaches, while another 22 percent went toward landscaping and neighborhood greening.
Anwahi, speaking on the agency’s ongoing operational work, noted that the infrastructure strategy covers the full lifecycle of public spaces. The work runs from initial planning and design through to daily upkeep, ensuring these public zones serve neighborhoods efficiently and sustainably over the long haul. The scale of the undertaking reflects an effort to accelerate delivery without dropping the ball on quality or operational performance.
Beyond public leisure, the completed projects have unlocked over 100 new investment opportunities for local businesses looking to set up shop near upgraded parks and coastal zones.
Wider City Developments and Real Estate Activity
The municipal upgrade sits alongside a broader wave of development sweeping across the emirate. High-profile attendees, including Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, have tracked these expanding urban initiatives. Alongside him, officials like Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi have monitored the city’s growth trajectory.
Financing commitments remain staggering across multiple sectors. Planned works include over Dh100 billion earmarked for Phase 2 of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and another Dh100 billion for road upgrades alongside the development of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Additional allocations feature Dh10 billion to expand the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Dh80 billion for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system, Dh30 billion for the “Tasreef” rainwater drainage project, Dh151 billion for new power and water grid infrastructure, and Dh4 billion dedicated to the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap.
On the housing and residential front, current plans outline delivery targets reaching approximately 350,000 residential units to match the widening transport and utility grids. Meanwhile, the rental market maintains heavy momentum, logging over one million rental transactions worth roughly Dh100 billion, according to Al Marri. Project activity also surged through the first half of 2026, recording more than 104 projects with a total value climbing 52 percent compared to the same period in 2025, before pushing past 150 projects overall.
Dubai Municipality continues to operate across these varied sectors to ensure public infrastructure keeps pace with the city’s rapid expansion.
