The detained individual had been reported missing from his home since July and was characterized by Egyptian officials as psychologically unstable, prompting the Foreign Ministry to initiate diplomatic steps for his return. The Israeli military confirmed that the man was apprehended overnight before being transferred to security forces for further questioning.
The Israel Defense Forces stated that the border breach is currently under review. The military added that it views the incident with severity and continues to maintain a high level of defensive readiness throughout the area.
