Jobe Bellingham Earns Maiden England Call-Up Under Thomas Tuchel
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham has received his first senior England squad call-up alongside his older brother Jude for upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The selection marks a swift international breakthrough for the younger Bellingham brother as manager Thomas Tuchel reshapes the national team ahead of crucial matches against Croatia and Spain.
Youthful Inclusions and High-Profile Omissions Shape Tuchel’s Squad
Tuchel omitted Chelsea forward Cole Palmer from the setup, stating that the player misses too many opportunities to impress at the international level following his withdrawal from previous squads due to injury. Alongside the younger Bellingham, Fulham teenager Josh King and 18-year-old Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha secured their maiden senior selections.
England currently sit second in Group A3 after recording three wins and a defeat. The squad requires just a single point from their remaining fixtures to lock down a quarter-final berth in March. The Three Lions host Croatia on Thursday at Wembley, having beaten them 7-0 last month, before traveling to face Spain.
The upcoming fixtures also carry individual milestones for the national side. Captain Harry Kane stands on the brink of history, positioned to surpass Peter Shilton as England’s most capped male player after tying the former goalkeeper’s 125 appearances during the previous international window against the Czech Republic.
The full 26-man squad features Jordan Pickford, Jason Steele, and James Trafford among the goalkeepers, alongside a defensive line comprising Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrad Branthwaite, Marc Guehi, Lewis Hall, Ezri Konsa, Ben White, Djed Spence, and Jarell Quansah. Midfield options feature Elliot Anderson, Jude Bellingham, Jobe Bellingham, James Garner, Josh King, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Declan Rice, and Eberechi Eze. The forward line includes Harry Kane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anthony Gordon, Rio Ngumoha, Morgan Rogers, and Morgan Gibbs-White.
