Museum of the Future Shutting Down Sept 1 for a Complete Revamp
If you’ve been meaning to catch the current exhibits at Dubai‘s Museum of the Future, your window to walk through the halls is down to a matter of days.
The landmark attraction announced via social media that it will temporarily close its doors starting September 1, kicking off a comprehensive overhaul that will replace every major exhibition inside the building.
Work gets underway immediately on a brand-new visitor journey, bringing next-generation interactive experiences designed to explore the challenges and opportunities of the decades ahead. The refreshed space is scheduled to reopen in the first quarter of 2027, coinciding directly with the institution’s fifth anniversary.
Residents and international visitors have already helped shape what comes next. More than 1,000 public suggestions poured in through the museum’s social media platforms, drawing ideas from contributors across different countries and disciplines.
As Mohammad Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Museum of the Future, has noted, the venue is built to explore what tomorrow can become through knowledge and imagination rather than simply documenting the past. This upcoming refresh operates on that same model, keeping the physical space aligned with fast-moving scientific and technological shifts.
Current displays remain open until the closure takes effect at the start of next month, giving families and tourists a final few days to explore the existing setup before the overhaul begins.
