999 for emergencies, 901 for everything else
The UAE has designated 9 September as an annual Emergency Number Day. The Ministry of Interior launched the campaign with Dubai Police and police forces across the country to cut non-emergency calls to 999 so that urgent calls get answered faster.
| Number | Use it for |
|---|---|
| 999 | Genuine emergencies that need immediate intervention |
| 901 | General enquiries and non-emergency police services |
What to tell the operator
- Give your exact location first.
- Describe clearly and accurately what happened.
- Answer the call-taker’s questions without delay, so the right team can be dispatched.
The campaign uses awareness messages in several languages to reach all communities.
