Klitschko Files Urgent Petition to Protect Daughter's Inheritance
Wladimir Klitschko has filed an urgent petition in a Los Angeles County court to act as temporary representative for his 11-year-old daughter Kaya’s estate following the death of actor Hayden Panettiere. The legal filing targets potential asset dissipation amid missing valuables, federal property seizures, and unauthorized access to Panettiere’s former residence.
Court Hearing Scheduled as Federal Investigation and Missing Valuables Threaten Estate Assets
Klitschko, a 50-year-old former heavyweight boxing champion and Olympic gold medallist who maintains full custody of Kaya in Ukraine, initiated the court action through his legal team to secure the 11-year-old’s position as Panettiere’s sole heir. The petition states that an immediate temporary appointment is essential, warning that property belonging to the estate faces a high probability of being lost, damaged, or misappropriated before a permanent administrator can be appointed. Federal agents have already seized items during an ongoing investigation into Panettiere’s death, and the filing notes that unauthorized individuals have repeatedly accessed the Los Angeles property, raising concerns that remaining valuables will disappear.
Panettiere died on August 16 at age 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. A coroner’s report confirmed her death resulted from an accidental overdose of multiple drugs, including fentanyl, following a recent stint in rehabilitation. Earlier this year, Panettiere released a memoir detailing her struggles with alcohol addiction and postpartum depression following Kaya’s birth in 2014. Klitschko and Panettiere began dating in 2009 and became engaged in 2013, with Kaya moving to Ukraine to live full-time with her father at age two. Investigators also learned from Panettiere’s father that she had active plans to travel to Ukraine to visit her daughter just days before her death.
A Los Angeles court hearing is scheduled for October 8 to evaluate the temporary guardianship petition.
