5 Iconic Dubai Venues Reopening in 2027 After Major Overhauls
Five of Dubai’s key cultural, hospitality, and dining destinations are currently out of action while undergoing multi-million-dirham revamps.
If you are planning visits or looking to book events in 2027, here is the exact schedule for when these familiar spots will welcome guests back.
1. Museum of the Future (First Quarter of 2027)
The Museum of the Future on Sheikh Zayed Road temporarily shut its doors on September 1, 2026, to clear space for a complete overhaul of its internal content.
While the landmark’s 77-meter toroidal exterior will remain untouched, the interior is receiving entirely new interactive spaces, immersive displays, and refreshed exhibitions. First opened in 2022, the site is slated to resume public visits in the first quarter of 2027.
2. Armani Hotel Dubai (March 2027)
Located inside the Burj Khalifa, the Armani Hotel Dubai paused operations on April 1, 2026, for a comprehensive interior refurbishment.
The project covers all guest rooms, suites, dining venues, outdoor areas, the swimming pool, spa, and fitness facilities. Corporate planners will get an early look when the upgraded ballroom and event spaces open in January 2027, ahead of the property’s full hotel launch in March 2027. The hotel first opened in 2010 under the design direction of Giorgio Armani.
3. The Plaza, Formerly Lamcy Plaza (First Half of 2027)
A retail spot in Oud Metha that has sat quiet since a fire in March 2017 is slated to return between January and June 2027 under a new identity.
asset management firm Azure Properties is overseeing the site, which originally opened in 1997. Specific details on incoming retail tenants and dining options have not been released, and there is no official word on whether the mall’s long-remembered rope-climbing clown figure will return to the central atrium.
4. Burj Al Arab (October 2027)
Dubai’s 321-meter sail-shaped hotel on its private artificial island closed in April 2026 for an 18-month restoration program.
Marking the property’s first major structural and cosmetic renovation since its 1999 debut, the project covers upgrades to suites, guest interiors, restaurants, and leisure facilities. Guests can expect the doors to open again in October 2027.
5. Barasti Beach Club (2027)
The long-standing beachfront spot at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina temporarily shut down on June 21, 2026, for a full site redevelopment.
Operating since 1995, the location is being rebuilt with multiple distinct zones, redesigned seating, and expanded food outlets. Management expects to welcome guests back at an unconfirmed date in 2027.
The Verdict
If you need to book early, the Armani Hotel’s event spaces will be the first of these locations to open to the public in January 2027, followed closely by new exhibition floors at the Museum of the Future later that spring.
