Crossing the Road in Dubai: Use Designated Crossings
On 29 April 2026 Dubai Police urged residents and visitors not to cross roads at undesignated areas, citing serious safety risks and recent incidents. The force said enforcement action can be taken against behaviour that endangers road users.

The fine
Dubai Police’s earlier jaywalking warnings and enforcement reports put the fine at Dh400. The April 2026 warning did not state an amount, so confirm the current figure with Dubai Police. Some commentary mentions much higher figures in cases where jaywalking causes harm, but we could not confirm them.
Staying safe
- Walk to the nearest crossing even if it feels far, particularly on multi-lane and high-speed roads.
- Do not cross between parked cars or at unlit points near interchanges.
- Drivers should stay alert near crossings and give way to pedestrians where required.
