Emirates ID biometric appointment: how to book at ICP
To get an Emirates ID appointment for biometrics, you book a slot online, because your fingerprints and signature are captured in person at an ICP service centre. ICP says renewal applicants aged 15 and over complete the fingerprint and signature steps at a centre, and first-time applicants may also be asked to visit. You book the slot through the ICP smart services portal or the UAEICP app.
How to book the appointment
- Log in to ICP smart services at icp.gov.ae or in the UAEICP app.
- Open your Emirates ID application or select the relevant service.
- Choose an available date and time.
- Pick the ICP service centre nearest to you.
- Wait for the confirmation SMS on your registered mobile number.
What to bring
- Your application or transaction reference.
- The identification details linked to the ICP account you used to book.
- Any other document named in your application or confirmation message.
When to book, and what happens if you wait

Booking your appointment as soon as the card nears expiry avoids the fine. If a card is lost, report it to ICP within seven days.
Other points to know
- Emirates ID is mandatory for all UAE citizens and residents, and you should carry it at all times.
- Report changes to personal details to ICP within one month.
- You can apply through the ICP website or an accredited typing centre, and track the application afterwards.
- A 24-hour urgent service exists for UAE nationals and GCC nationals living in the UAE. Other expatriates qualify only for replacements.
