UAE Summer Visa Fee Waiver for Children: Who Qualifies and What You Still Pay
Each summer, the UAE has waived the visa fee for children under 18 who visit as tourists with a parent. The 2026 window ran from 15 July to 15 September and has now closed. The scheme has run in recent summers, so it is worth checking with your travel agency before booking next year’s trip.
Who qualifies for the waiver?
- The child is under 18 and entering as a tourist.
- The child travels with at least one parent. If only one parent travels, an undertaking letter from the other parent may be required.
- The child’s application is filed together with the accompanying parent’s tourist visa application, inside the waiver window.
- The waiver covers 30-day and 60-day tourist visas.
It is not for UAE residents applying for a visit visa for their own child. It is aimed at families visiting from abroad.
What is waived and what you still pay
| Item | Status |
|---|---|
| Child’s visa application fee | Waived. Agencies quote roughly AED 250 to 350 for a child’s one-month visa. |
| Travel insurance and agency service charge | Still payable, about AED 120 per child depending on the agency. |
| Visa extension | Not covered. Extensions are charged separately, from around AED 1,000. |
For a family with two children, that works out to a saving of roughly AED 500 to 700 on visa fees, with up to about AED 240 still payable for insurance and service charges. These figures come from agency quotes, not a published government fee table, so ask your agency for an itemised breakdown before you pay.
How to claim it
- Tell the travel agency handling your applications that you are applying under the summer child waiver, before you make any payment.
- Submit the child’s and the parent’s applications together, with passport copies for both.
- Ask for a written cost breakdown showing the waived fee, insurance and service charge.
- If a companion has turned 18, ask the agency what that person’s visa costs, because the waiver does not apply to them.
If you need to stay longer or you overstay
Tourist visas can be extended, but the extension is charged in full. See our guide to UAE visit visa extensions for the rules and costs. Overstaying carries a daily fine, covered in our guide to the UAE visa overstay fine. For the basics of visa types and durations, see the UAE tourist visa guide.
